About Lesters Builders (Tunbridge Wells)

Glenn Lester, Managing Director

The History of Lesters (Tunbridge Wells) Ltd

Glenn Lester (Managing Director) was born in Reading, Berkshire and moved to Sussex as a young child. After completing a Carpentry course at West Kent College, he carried out an Apprenticeship with S. Smith & Son Builders based in Tonbridge. Glenn moved to Tunbridge Wells at the age of 21 and has lived in Southborough for many years with his wife and two children.

Glenn decided to set up his own business in 1989, initially carrying out small jobs for local people on his own. The word spread and the need to employ staff then followed and the company has grown from strength to strength. The company became limited in 1999 and now employs over ten full time staff, alongside numerous regular sub-contractors covering all trades.

Sarah Lester (Company Secretary and Glenn's wife) has worked with the company from day one and manages the accounts and runs the payroll, V.A.T and tax accounts.

Tim Kemp (Site Foreman) joined the company in 1997 and was promoted to Site Foreman after years of dedicated service to Lester’s. Tim and Glenn work closely together running and managing our projects.

Lester’s (Tunbridge Wells) Ltd prides itself on having a hardworking, courteous and loyal team who always put the customer first and this will always continue to be the case.

Over the past few years we have carried out a number of high profile projects in Tunbridge wells and surrounding areas, including commercial work for Maviga international and The Gym in the centre of the town. Maviga was one of our first commercial projects and we are proud to be part of the design and build team.

"Throughout the project Glenn was extremely pleasant and listened to my needs, was able to give advice where appropriate and to interpret my ideas into action."
